A part called the crankshaft position sensor tone wheel can delaminate, which may cause the engine to lose its ability to synchronize fuel injector pulses and camshaft timing.
Tailgate May Open While Driving, Spilling Cargo
The tailgate on certain Ram pickups may not latch properly because the tailgate strikers are misaligned with the box latch.
Fuel pump failure can cause sudden loss of engine power
This recall covers certain diesel-engine vehicles with a 3.0L engine in which the high pressure fuel pump can fail and send internal debris through the fuel system.
Curtain Air Bag Inflator May Fail and Injure Occupants
Certain Ram pickups have a side curtain air bag inflator whose end cap can detach, or whose inflator housing can rupture.
Front Seat Belts May Not Slow Occupants in a Crash
Certain front seat belt retractors may not properly slow the occupant's forward movement after the belt locks.
Rearview Camera Image May Stay On After Reverse
A software error can cause the rearview camera image to stay on the radio display after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse.
Floormat Can Stop Accelerator Pedal From Returning
On certain 2019-2020 Ram 1500 trucks with adjustable pedals, the driver's floormat can get in the way of the accelerator pedal in some pedal positions.
Loose Wiper Arms May Reduce Driver Visibility
Certain 2019-2020 Jeep Compass and Ram 1500 vehicles may have a windshield wiper arm, or arms, that can loosen.
Transfer Case Gear May Cause Sudden Power Loss
A gear inside the four-wheel-drive transfer case may not have been installed correctly.
Low Tire Pressure Warning May Not Display, Raising Crash Risk
Some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks may have been built with an incorrect tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor.
Steering assist can cut out intermittently, raising crash risk
Some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks may have been built with a contaminated electric power steering (EPS) gear.
EGR cooler can crack and leak coolant, creating a fire risk
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler on certain trucks with the 3.0L Eco Diesel engine may crack.
Dashboard May Fail to Show Warning Lights, Raising Crash Risk
The instrument cluster in certain vehicles may not properly illuminate driver warnings about the vehicle's systems.
Spare Tire May Be Wrong Size, Risking Crash
The spare tire supplied with certain vehicles may differ in size and required inflation pressure from what is listed on the tire placard label.
Air Bags and Seat Belt Pretensioners May Shut Off
Certain 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 trucks may have a corrupted memory in the Occupant Restraint Controller, the module that manages the air bags and seat belt pretensioners.
Rear driveshaft may crack or break, risking loss of power or crash
Some 2018-2019 Ram 1500 pickups may have an incomplete weld between the rear driveshaft tube and tube yoke.
Steering Wheel Can Detach From Column, Risking Crash
Some steering column stub shafts were improperly machined and may break.
Battery Wire Can Overheat and Cause a Cabin Fire
Some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks equipped with the 48-volt auxiliary battery system, located behind the rear seat, may have a battery wire terminal connection that overheats.
Brake Pedal Can Separate, Risking Loss of Braking
Certain vehicles with adjustable pedals have a brake pedal that may move too far and separate from the pedal assembly.
Loose Battery Ground Can Cause Loss of Steering Assist
A battery ground fastener on the driver-side front fender may not have been properly secured.
Windshield May Not Defrost or Defog, Reducing Visibility
Certain 2019 RAM 1500 vehicles equipped with a 12-inch touchscreen display and base-level heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system do not have a functioning windshield defrosting and defogging system.
Passenger Seat Sensor May Loosen, Raising Airbag Injury Risk
The seat track position sensor on the manually adjusted passenger seat may come loose and move out of position.
Rear Axle May Lose Oil and Cause Loss of Drive
The rear differential on these trucks may not have been filled with enough oil at the factory.
Cruise Control May Not Shut Off, Raising Crash Risk
A short circuit in the wiring can stop the cruise control from disengaging, whether by pressing the brake pedal or switching the system off manually.

What owners report
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle had a slight loss of automotive power, and the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The vehicle was restarted, and the failure ceased. The contact continued driving and the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was retrieved from the dealer and while driving the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was advised that additional diagnostic tests were required to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The fa
The failed component is the high-pressure fuel pump, which the dealer confirmed failed and contaminated the fuel system. I do not know whether the failed pump will be available for inspection, since the dealer is replacing it. The engine stalled while I was driving on [road type, e.g., a highway] with my family [in the vehicle / traveling with me] and would not restart, which put us at risk of losing power in traffic. The dealer confirmed the failure and opened the recall repair. To my knowledge, the manufacturer has not inspected the truck. The red throttle warning light came on and the truck stored a P016F fuel pressure code at the time of the failure. A MAP sensor code had appeared earlie
Blown Engine- No prior indicators that were obviously present. Driving on highway and about 40 miles in, loud ticking noises. Truck previously had manifold bolt breaking issues so assumed it was an exhaust leak. Within another 20 miles, the engine light came on and engine noises noticeably increased. Immediately took it to Ram Service and was diagnosed with a failed camshaft and camshaft bearing wear/scoring. Issue was reported to Ram dealership and ultimately fixed at owner cost.
* The Sun Visor on both the driver and passenger sides of my 2019 Ram 1500 failed. The holder weakens and allows the visor to drop unexpectedly, which blocks your view while driving. * When I was driving, the sun visor had popped out of the ceiling, dropped into my view of the traffic, and bounced around my hands and the steering wheel. There is an electrical wire in the sun visor that causes the sun visor to dangle, spin, and bounce around until you can grab it. * The problem has been reproduced. There are dozens of videos on YouTube ([XXX]) and widespread industry of after-market repair parts, such as this one on Amazon ([XXX]). * No one inspected my truck. I did not go to a repair sho
Engine seized resulting in loss of propulsion while driving on the freeway Vehicle: 2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Mileage at failure: ~50,000 miles Purchase: Bought brandânew in April 2020 Maintenance: 8 documented oil changes, all performed on schedule While driving with my family on 7/12, the engine suddenly seized without warning at highway speed. The truck lost power instantly. This is a serious safety concern because the failure happened during normal driving conditions with no prior symptoms. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for nearly 90 days with no teardown, no diagnosis, and no repair plan. Ram/Stellantis has not resolved the issue or approved an engine replacement despit
