What this recall means for you
Certain 2019 Sprinter vans sold under the Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz names have a power steering return line hose that may detach from its connection. When it does, hydraulic fluid can leak out.
A fluid leak can cause a sudden loss of power steering assist, which makes the van harder to steer and raises the risk of a crash. If you drive one of these vans, watch for signs of a fluid leak, such as puddles or drips under the vehicle or a low power steering fluid level, and take the van to a dealer promptly if you notice them.
Dealers will install a screw-type clamp on the hose free of charge. Owners can contact Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 and should reference recall number NV3LETULPX. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 28, 2021. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
