Chrysler Pacifica Recall 17V824: Fire Extinguisher May Clog or Fail to Discharge

NHTSA campaign 17V824, reported December 21, 2017, 61,791 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some in-vehicle Kidde fire extinguishers, sold with certain Chrysler, Dodge, and RAM vehicles, may become clogged. A clogged unit may not discharge as expected or may require excessive force to activate. In certain models, the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.

If the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases if a fire occurs in your vehicle. Check the recall notices for the list of affected trailer and extinguisher models to see whether your extinguisher is included.

Chrysler will notify owners. You can contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher at no charge: call Kidde at 1-855-262-3540 or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall." You can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (Chrysler recall number T82). Check your VIN for open recalls at your vehicle's manufacturer or NHTSA website.
