2020 Ford Expedition recalls
Transmission Could Engage Park While Moving, Risking Rollaway
The transmission park pawl, the part that locks the transmission in Park, may engage while the vehicle is still in motion.
Center Console Trim May Peel and Expose Sharp Edges
The chrome plating on the center console of certain Expedition SUVs may bubble and peel, leaving sharp edges that occupants could contact.
Seat Belts May Lock and Fail to Restrain Occupants
Some seat belts in the driver or front passenger seat may lock unexpectedly due to a problem with the seat belt pretensioner, so the belt cannot retract or extend.
Short Circuit Can Cause Engine Fire; Park Outside
A short circuit inside the battery junction box can cause an engine fire, either while the vehicle is being driven or while it is parked.
Rearview Camera May Show Blank or Stuck Image
A software error can cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or to keep showing the camera image after the vehicle has left reverse.
Front Seat Belts May Lock and Fail to Restrain
The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently lock the seat belt, so the belt cannot retract or extend.
Forward Collision and Auto Braking May Not Work
Some 2020 vehicles were repaired incorrectly under an earlier recall, and a software error has left the Pre-Collision Assist features inoperative.
Missing Air Bag Warning Label on Dashboard
Some vehicles may have a missing air bag warning label on the dashboard.
Front Seat Belts May Lock and Fail to Restrain Occupants
The front seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may deploy unexpectedly.
Missing Head Restraint Instructions Raise Crash Injury Risk
Some Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and F-Super Duty SuperCab trucks were built without owner's manual instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints, including those for the center seating positions.
Wiper Arms May Break, Losing Windshield Wipers
The front windshield wiper arms on these vehicles can break, causing the wipers to stop working.
Seat Belt Sensor May Misread Child as Adult
A seat belt tension sensor in certain vehicles may incorrectly classify a child passenger as an adult.
Rearview camera may show blank or distorted image
A poor electrical connection can cause the rearview camera to intermittently display a blank or distorted image.
Second-Row Headrest Bracket May Fail in a Crash
Some 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles may have a driver's side second-row seat headrest attachment bracket that was not sufficiently welded to the seat frame.
Pre-Collision Assist May Not Be Enabled, Raising Crash Risk
On certain 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with the camera-only Pre-Collision Assist system, incorrect coding of interfacing modules means the Pre-Collision Assist feature is not turned on, and the driver cannot access the menu needed to enable it.
Passenger Seatbelt Sensor May Fail in a Crash
Certain 2020 Ford Expedition vehicles have a front passenger seatbelt buckle whose Belt Tension Sensor may malfunction.
Gear Shift May Not Match Selected Gear, Risking Rollaway
The transmission shift cable lock clip may not be fully seated, so the transmission can be in a different gear than the one shown by the shift position.
Seatback May Not Hold in a Crash, Raising Injury Risk
Certain manual front and rear seats in these vehicles may be missing a third pawl in the recliner mechanism, which is needed to keep the seatback strong.

What owners report
2020 Ford Expedition 10 speed transmission â¨Numerous times while driving in the [XXX]/[XXX] area we were attempting to merge into traffic. While trying to merge, we pressed the gas in order to merge into traffic and the powertrain seized up with a total loss of power (it was basically like it went into neutral) and the RPMâs jumped to 6000-7000 rpm. When we let off the gas, the transmission finally slammed back into gear with a loud clunk and it finally re-engaged. This shifting situation has happened several times over the past 8-12 months. Just recently (XXX) it happened three times in that day. This is an extremely dangerous issue. The last incident there was had a cement truck c
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that there was a grinding sound coming from the engine and the engine was raised; however, the vehicle failed to drive forward. When accelerating hard, the vehicle attempted to downshift the transmission, but failed and all power was suddenly lost. Vehicle transmission was loud and grinding. Warning lamps stating Shift failure was displayed but disappeared quickly. After removing acceleration, transmission seemed to slip into gear and normal acceleration was restored. About 30 seconds later when holding constant speed, vehicle suddenly jerked and downshifted unexpectedly, again grinding could be heard and RPM's shot extremely high. Again foot was removed from acceleration and normal driving was restored.
My car is a 2020 Ford Expedition Max with under 39,000 miles. A major transmission issue was just discovered while getting the 40,000 mile service. I believe it is the same issue as described under Recall 26S48. The car suddenly shifted into Neutral while driving on the freeway two separate times. The car is currently at the dealership, they got a P07E code, but did not experience the issue themselves.
The little cubby in my car where I keep my phone charger literally sliced the side of my finger open. I was just reaching in there like I normally would, and somehow the edge caught my finger and cut it so badly that it took a piece of the side of my finger off. I never would have imagined something as simple as reaching into the little compartment in my car could cause an injury like that. It happened so quickly, and it honestly caught me completely off guard. Now Iâm sitting here with my finger hurting, wondering how something in my own car could be sharp enough to do that much damage!
