What this recall means for you
On certain 2018 Sprinter vans sold under the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner names, the label showing the spare tire's maximum speed may not have been attached to the spare tire. Without that label, a driver may not know the spare's speed limit and could drive faster than the spare tire is rated for.
Driving at excessive speed on a spare tire raises the risk of tire failure and a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially if they ever need to use the spare.
The repair is free. Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealers will attach the speed limitation label to the spare wheel. Owners can contact Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267, referencing recall number VS3BEGREPP, and can check their VIN for any open recalls.
