Tesla Model S Recall 24V967: Driver Airbag May Tear During Deployment

NHTSA campaign 24V967, reported December 23, 2024, 487 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles from model years 2021 through 2024 may have a driver's frontal airbag cushion that could tear when the airbag deploys. The defect means these vehicles do not fully meet federal occupant crash protection and windshield mounting safety standards.

If the airbag tears during deployment, it may not adequately protect the driver in a crash, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should not wait to act on this recall.

Tesla will replace the driver's airbag assembly free of charge at an authorized service center. Owner notification letters were mailed February 21, 2025, and you can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 (Tesla recall number SB-24-20-001). You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
