Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 Recall 20V089: Dashboard switches may not light up in the dark

NHTSA campaign 20V089, reported February 14, 2020, 2,101 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Mercedes-Benz vehicles from model years 2020 and 2021 may have an instrument cluster software issue. If the hazard lights are turned on while the ignition is off, the software can turn off the illumination of some interior switches, including those on the switch bar, overhead control unit, and steering wheel. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101, which covers controls and displays.

Without that lighting, the switches can be harder to locate and operate, which increases the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the instrument cluster software at no cost to you. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and you can check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
