Description of the Incident: While driving our RV on the expressway, the slide-out unexpectedly extended on its own without anyone pressing the control button or getting up from their seat. The slide-out extended several feet outward while the vehicle was moving at highway speed. Component/System that Failed: The slide-out mechanism/control system malfunctioned. It appears to have activated spontaneously. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This malfunction created an extreme safety hazard. The slide-out expanded into the next lane of traffic, putting our passengers, specifically our children seated at the dinette, at immediate risk of being struck or crushed
