TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW R 1200 GS MOTORCYCLE. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP SPRAYED FUEL ONTO THE DRIVER AND VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALAMO BMW MOTORCYCLES (25600 I-10, BOERNE, TX 78006, (210) 828-5513) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V617000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
BMW R1200GS 2010 MOTORCYCLE PART ON THROTTLE BODY WHERE THE THROTTLE CABLE ATTACHES TO THE THROTTLE BODY KEEPS ON CRACKING. IT IS A PLASTIC PART WHEN ALL PREVIOUS MODELS WERE METAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES ON MY BIKE SO FAR. THE INDIVIDUAL PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE TOTAL THROTTLE BODY $546 + $400 LABOR. THERE IS ALSO THE DANGER OF THE THROTTLE JAMMING WHILE IN OPERATION DUE TO THESE CRACKED AND BROKEN LOOSE PARTS. I WAS IN MOTION AND FELT THROTTLE STICK AND THEN RELEASE SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE I WAS IN THE HOV LANE ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE REPAIR DOCUMENTATION ON FILE FOR ALL 3 REPLACED THROTTLE BODIES BUT DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO SCAN THEM. IF YOU NEED C
THE DROP DOWN MENU ABOVE FOR AFFECTED PARTS WAS NOT WORKING WITH MY COMPUTER. THE AFFECTED PART IS THE TRANSMISSION/SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE MENU DID NOT SHOW MY YEAR OF MOTORCYCLE, WHICH IS 2011. I SELECTED 2010 AS THE NEXT CLOSEST OPTION. SINCE I PURCHASED THE BIKE IT WILL ON OCCASION POP OUT OF 6TH GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS A FALSE NEUTRAL BETWEEN 5TH AND 6TH GEAR. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THEY INDICATED THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED SO THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. THIS ISSUE IS DOCUMENTED ONLINE THAT OTHER BMW MOTORCYCLES HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR FREQUENTLY, BUT IS NOT SAFE WHEN IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL AT AROUN
