What this recall means for you

Certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, and Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles may have rear coil springs that were incorrectly installed. A spring can detach from the vehicle while it is being driven.

A rear coil spring that comes loose from the vehicle while driving increases the risk of a crash. Interim notification letters about this safety risk were mailed to owners on September 29, 2026, and additional letters will follow once the final remedy is available.

Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators free of charge. Owners can check whether their VIN is involved, which will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting September 9, 2026, or contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 89D).
