- Component
- SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:RESERVOIR/TANK
- Problem
- Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain 2015-2022 ACTT (Xspotter) and ACX (Xpeditor) vehicles. The air tanks have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
- Risk
- Insufficient air volume can reduce brake function, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect and replace or add additional air tanks as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed November 2026. Owners will receive a second notice once remedy parts become available, anticipated September 2026. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611. Autocar's numbers for this recall are ACTT-2503 and ACX-2503.
What this recall means for you
Certain Autocar Xpeditor and Xspotter trucks from model years 2015 through 2018 have air tanks that do not hold enough air for the brake system. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems.
Insufficient air volume can reduce brake performance, which means the vehicle may need a longer distance to stop. That increases the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the air tanks and replace them or add additional tanks as needed, at no cost to you. Owners will receive a second notice once remedy parts are available, which is expected in September 2026. You can contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 with questions, and you can check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
