What this recall means for you
A worn parking brake control valve can leak air into the vent line. This creates excessive back pressure that can cause the parking brake to release on its own.
If the parking brake releases unexpectedly, the vehicle may roll away, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be cautious and always set the parking brake and check that the vehicle is held in place before leaving it.
The remedy is free. Dealers will remove the vent line and fitting from the parking brake control valve. Owners who received the notification letter mailed March 23, 2023, can contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
