Volkswagen Atlas Recall 22V815: Tire Pressure Warning May Miss All-Tire Air Loss, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V815, reported October 31, 2022, 296,044 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some vehicles may not detect a sudden loss of air pressure when all four tires deflate at the same time. The tire pressure monitoring system is meant to warn drivers of low pressure, but in this case it may not alert in time. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 138 for tire pressure monitoring systems.

An undetected sudden loss of pressure in all four tires increases the risk of a crash, because the driver may not know the tires are losing air until the vehicle is already hard to control.

Dealers will update the tire pressure monitoring system software at no cost to you. Owners were mailed notification letters on November 18, 2022. You can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Check your VIN for open recalls and schedule the free software update at an authorized dealer.
