What this recall means for you
Moisture can build up inside the brake booster housing of certain Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, GL-Class, and R-Class vehicles from model years 2006 and 2007. Over time, this moisture can cause corrosion, which may reduce brake performance or cause the brakes to fail.
Reduced braking or brake failure raises the risk of a crash. Because of this, the manufacturer advises owners not to drive affected vehicles until the remedy has been performed. Owners should contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule the repair.
The repair is free of charge. Dealers will remove the rubber sleeve, inspect the brake booster, and replace the brake booster if necessary. Owners can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
