NHTSA campaign 18V743, reported October 24, 2018, 76 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018 Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles may have been built with incorrect right side door latch components. When the doors are electronically unlocked, the right side doors may not be able to be opened from either inside or outside the vehicle.

If the right side doors cannot be opened in a crash, occupants may be unable to exit or rescuers may be unable to reach them, which could increase the risk of injury. Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the door locks and replace them if necessary, free of charge.

If you own one of these vehicles, check whether it is included in this recall by entering your VIN at a trusted recall lookup site or by contacting DVUSA at 1-877-762-8267. Until the repair is done, be aware that the right side doors may not open after being electronically unlocked.
