Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 18V251: Rear Brake Calipers May Rub Suspension, Cutting Braking

NHTSA campaign 18V251, reported April 19, 2018, 40 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trucks built with air disc brakes and spring suspension may have rear disc brake calipers installed in the wrong orientation. In that case, the caliper can contact the suspension, which reduces how effectively the brakes work.

Reduced braking effectiveness can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have the vehicle checked as soon as possible.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, where the rear brake calipers will be corrected. Owners will be notified by the manufacturer, but you can also contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and check your VIN for open recalls.
