Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 Recall 18V113: Incorrect weight label may lead to overloaded vans

NHTSA campaign 18V113, reported February 15, 2018, 17 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans with folding seats (sales code S20) may have an incorrect unloaded vehicle weight label. This is most likely to affect incomplete vehicles that are later finished by final-stage manufacturers, who could build them beyond their maximum allowed weight.

A vehicle loaded above its maximum weight rating has a higher risk of crashing, so owners of affected vans should take this recall seriously.

Daimler Vans USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the weight label and inspect the vehicle to confirm it is not overloaded, at no cost to you. The recall began on April 3, 2018. You can contact Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267, and you should check your VIN for any open recalls.
