Freightliner Cascadia Recall 16V824: Tires May Separate Tread, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V824, reported November 15, 2016, 863 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 Freightliner Cascadia, Business Class M2, and 122SD trucks built between January 24, 2016 and October 10, 2016 may have tires that were cured improperly. The affected tires are Goodyear G399A LHS 295/75R22.5 Load Range G. This can lead to a partial tread separation, where part of the tire's tread peels away from the casing while driving.

Partial tread separation can increase the risk of a crash. Owners of affected trucks should not wait for a notice to act. Check whether your vehicle is included in this recall and confirm the tire size and type on your truck.

Goodyear will notify affected owners, and Goodyear dealers will replace the affected tires free of charge. To find a Goodyear dealer, contact Goodyear Consumer Relations at 1-800-592-3267.
