What owners report
On 9/20/2026 all of the roof-rail (side-curtain) airbag inflators spontaneously ruptured and deployed with explosive force while the vehicle was stationary. The event was triggered solely by shutting the vehicle's driverâs side door hard. There was absolutely no collision, impact, or external force applied to the vehicle that would justify a normal airbag deployment. The inflator body split tearing through the interior headliner. This identical failure mechanism matches existing GM safety campaigns (such as NHTSA Campaign 21V504000) concerning roof-rail airbag inflators suffering from internal manufacturing corrosion and thermal cycling stress. The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the front driverâs side wheel stud and lug nuts needed to be replaced and scheduled an upcoming appointment for repair. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
LT265/60R20 121S E Yokohama Geolander AT4, manufacturer date of 2924. While driving south on Interstate 95, the driverâs side rear tire sidewall blew out, inside sidewall. The tires have approximately 14000 miles on them. There were no sidewall defects noticed approximately 4000 miles prior during a tire rotation. Nothing was hit in the roadway and proper pressure is maintained in all tires. There was no indication, tpms warning, that the tire was losing pressure prior to the blow out. There does not appear to be any damage to the tread area of the tire. Control of the vehicle was maintained to a stop in the breakdown lane. There were no injuries.
