Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 21V504: Side Curtain Airbag May Fail in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 21V504, reported July 1, 2021, 410,019 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The roof-rail curtain airbag inflator on these trucks can have its end cap separate, or its sidewall can rupture. When that happens, compressed gas can escape and push the end cap or other parts into the cab. That raises the risk of injury and can make a crash more dangerous.

General Motors will replace the left and right side roof-rail airbag modules at no cost to owners, and the work is done by authorized dealers. Owners who have not yet received a notice may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Owners should also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls, and should expect a second notice once the remedy is available. This recall replaces NHTSA recall 20V-736.
