Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 16V069: Loose brake pedal can cause loss of braking

NHTSA campaign 16V069, reported February 5, 2016, 430,771 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe Police Pursuit, and GMC Sierra heavy-duty trucks, the nut holding the brake pedal pivot can loosen. This can make the brake pedal loose or inoperative, so the driver may not be able to stop the vehicle using the brake pedal. A loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition can raise the risk of a crash.

General Motors will notify owners. Authorized dealers will add adhesive to the brake pedal pivot nut and reinstall it with increased torque, at no cost to the owner. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, referencing GM recall number 20760. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to see whether your vehicle is affected.
