The contact owned a 2024 Acura ZDX. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, the vehicle unintendedly applied the brake with the brake warning light illuminated and an audible alert sounding. The vehicle had experienced phantom braking. The contact stated that due to the failure, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 18,200.
The "shark fin" antenna on the top of the car came off while driving on the highway. I've had no prior issues with it being loose nor did I notice any issues with it being loose when I wash the car. I did not notice it came off until I returned home. The fact that normal highway speeds could cause it to dethatch puts other drivers at risk from the flying debris.
