- Component
- BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
- Problem
- Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 Acura ZDX and Prologue vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. Additionally, a software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays," 111, "Rear Visibility," and 305, "Electric-Powered Vehicles."
- Risk
- An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash or injury. Additionally, the loss of the rearview camera image can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
- Remedy
- Dealers will update the vehicle radio control module software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 22, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are TNL and XNK. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 4, 2026.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2024 Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue vehicles have a software error that can cause the instrument panel display to fail. The same software error can also cause the rearview camera to show a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse.
A display that stops showing critical information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, and a rearview camera that goes blank both reduce the driver's awareness of the vehicle and its surroundings. This raises the risk of a crash or injury.
The repair is free. Dealers will update the radio control module software at no charge. Owner letters were mailed April 22, 2026, and you can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (Honda recall numbers TNL and XNK). You can also check whether your vehicle is affected by searching its VIN on NHTSA.gov, where recall VINs become searchable beginning March 4, 2026.
