TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 THOR HURRICANE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH IN THE RAIN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED, THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER BECAME DETACHED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALL. THE DEALER (THOR MOTOR COACH, 2700 S NAPPANEE ST, ELKHART, IN 46517, (800) 860-5658) WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

ONAN GENERATOR STOP AFTER OPERATING FOR 1 OR 2 HOURS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. GENERATOR REPORTS ERROR CODE 36, APPARENTLY OVERHEATING IS THE REASON. THOR AND ONAN ARE POINTING AT EACH OTHER AS TO WHO IS RESPONSIBLE. ONAN GENERATOR IS RATED TO OPERATE UP TO 120F, BUT FAILS WHEN TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS BELOW 100 AND THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, WHICH SHOULD RESULT IN SOME COOLING EFFECT TO COUNTER THE EFFECT OF THE HOT ROAD SURFACE AND RV ENGINE HEAT. INTERIOR OF RV, SPECIALLY IN LONGER UNITS CAN NOT MAINTAIN A SAFE TEMPERATURE FOR PASSENGERS WITH ONLY THE ENGINE A/C UNIT. GENERATOR RUNS FINE FOR 24 HOURS IN 100+ DEGREE WEATHER WHEN THE RV IS STATIONARY AND THE GENERATOR IS RUNNING ON FULL LOA
