Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 26V413: Gear Display May Fail, Risking Unintended Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 26V413, reported June 30, 2026, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error in the transmission shifter module may prevent the gear selection indicator (PRNDL display) from showing which gear the vehicle is in. Without this display, the driver may not be able to confirm the selected gear, and the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 102 for transmission shift lever sequence and starter interlock.

If the gear indicator is not displayed, the vehicle could move unintentionally or roll away, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be especially careful to confirm the gear position before leaving the vehicle or relying on the shifter.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will update the shifter module software at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed August 20, 2026. You can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 (recall 30D), and you can check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, where affected VINs become searchable starting July 9, 2026.
