Ford Mustang Mach E Recall 25V404: Doors May Stay Locked on Low Battery, Trapping Occupants

NHTSA campaign 25V404, reported June 13, 2025, 197,432 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles have a software problem that can affect the electronic door latches when the battery charge is low. After the driver or front passenger exits and closes the door, the latch may stay locked. If someone is inside who cannot use the interior door release handle, such as a child in the back seat, they could be trapped.

Being unable to get into or out of the vehicle in an emergency raises the risk of injury. Owners should take this seriously, especially if young children ride in the vehicle.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C software at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 10, 2025 and September 12, 2025. To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN on our site or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall 25S65.
