- Component
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
- Problem
- Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 23V-848. In the event that one of the rear turn signals stops working, the vehicle will not adjust the turn signal flash rate frequency to warn the driver that a turn signal has failed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Risk
- A nonfunctioning exterior turn signal cannot notify other drivers that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C04.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or go to nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
Some 2022-2024 Ford Maverick vehicles were previously repaired incorrectly under an earlier recall. If one of the rear turn signals stops working, the vehicle does not change the turn signal flash rate to warn the driver that a bulb or signal has failed, so the driver may not know the signal is out.
A turn signal that does not work cannot tell other drivers that you are turning or changing lanes, which increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps.
Dealers will update the body control module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2025. You can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 25C04), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
