Volkswagen Tiguan Recall 25V082: Rearview Camera May Not Display Image, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V082, reported February 12, 2025, 29,569 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error may occur in the camera control unit when the vehicle starts, so the rearview camera image may not display as intended. The vehicles therefore do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 for rear visibility.

A rearview camera that does not show an image reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will update the camera control unit software at no charge. Owners can also contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, using recall numbers 91NY (Volkswagen) or 90AV (Audi). Volkswagen owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
