Volkswagen Atlas Recall 24V464: Front Passenger Airbag May Switch Off When Seat Is Occupied

What this recall means for you

The passenger occupant detection system, which decides whether the front passenger airbag should be active, may develop a wiring fault. When this happens, the system can deactivate the front passenger airbag even though a passenger is sitting in the seat.

A front passenger airbag that is switched off does not deploy in a crash, which raises the risk of injury to the front passenger.

Authorized Volkswagen dealers will replace the occupant detection sensor mat and wiring harness at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are being mailed in phases, beginning September 30, 2024 and continuing through January 17, 2025.
