Peterbilt 579 Recall 23V653: Fuel Tank Can Be Worn Through, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 23V653, reported September 27, 2023, 1,315 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021-2024 Peterbilt 567 and 579 trucks may have U-bolts holding the air tank to the chassis that can contact the diesel fuel tank. Over time, this contact can wear a hole in the fuel tank.

A punctured fuel tank can leak diesel fuel, which increases the risk of a fire.

Authorized Peterbilt dealers will inspect the U-bolts, trim them as needed, and replace the fuel tank if necessary, all at no cost to you. Owners who received notification letters mailed November 3, 2023 should contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220.
