What this recall means for you
Some vehicles have an exhaust system that can contact the rear axle housing. That contact may damage the wiring harness, which can cause the electric parking brake to activate on its own, even while the vehicle is being driven.
An unexpected parking brake activation while driving raises the risk of a crash. If your vehicle's parking brake engages without you applying it, pull over safely when you can and follow the guidance from your dealer or Ford.
Authorized Ford dealers will inspect the vehicle and install a protective tie strap and tape wrap, and will replace the wiring harness if needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed February 12, 2024. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 23S35, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
