What this recall means for you
The drag link taper joint on certain Freightliner trucks may not have been tightened enough at the factory, so it can work loose. In the worst case, the drag link can fully separate from the steering arm.
If that happens, the driver can lose steering control, which raises the risk of a crash. This recall expands an earlier recall, 21V-689.
The repair is free at an authorized Freightliner dealer. The dealer will inspect the drag link taper joint and repair it if needed. Owners can also check their VIN for open recalls and call Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 for more information.
