What this recall means for you
The driver's frontal air bag inflator in these Volvo S60 and S80 vehicles may rupture when the air bag deploys. The propellant inside can degrade over years of exposure to high humidity, high temperatures and repeated temperature swings, which can cause the inflator to explode.
An inflator explosion can send sharp metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants, which can cause serious injury or death. If you own one of the affected model years, do not wait to have this checked. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on the NHTSA website, and contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552, referencing recall R10125.
Authorized Volvo dealers will replace the driver's air bag free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 29, 2021.
