Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 Recall 21V071: Stability Software May Pull Vehicle to One Side, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V071, reported February 12, 2021, 41,838 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The electronic stability control software can apply torque to one front wheel during certain evasive driving maneuvers, which may pull the vehicle unexpectedly to one side. This means the vehicle does not fully meet federal electronic stability control requirements.

If the vehicle pulls to one side during an emergency swerve or sudden avoidance maneuver, it can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this issue, especially when driving at higher speeds or in situations requiring quick steering input.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the ESP software at no cost. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 (recall number 2021030004). You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
