What this recall means for you
The front trunk (frunk) latch assembly on certain Model S vehicles may be misaligned. This can stop the secondary hood latch from engaging, so if the primary latch is inadvertently released, the hood could open unexpectedly.
An open hood can block the driver's view of the road and increase the risk of a crash. The vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 113, which covers hood latch systems.
Owners should contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 or take their vehicle to an authorized Tesla Service center. Tesla will inspect and reposition the latch assembly as needed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 18, 2022, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
