Ford F-250 SD Recall 19V880: Seat belt sparks can ignite interior materials, causing fire

NHTSA campaign 19V880, reported December 11, 2019, 490,574 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2019 Ford F-Super Duty SuperCrew Cab trucks have carpet flooring that can ignite if a front seat belt pretensioner fires during a crash. When the pretensioner deploys, it can create sparks near the B-pillar area, where carpeting or insulation may catch fire inside the vehicle.

A vehicle fire could result if these materials ignite, creating a serious safety hazard for occupants. Ford will notify affected owners.

Dealers will apply heat-resistant tape to the carpet and its insulation and modify the B-pillar insulation as needed, at no cost to you. The recall is expected to begin January 20, 2020. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 19S52), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
