Ford Transit Recall 19V238: Rear Seat May Not Lock Upright, Raising Injury Risk in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 19V238, reported March 26, 2019, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain shuttle vehicles built on Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and 2007 Ford F-250 platforms and equipped with Freedman GO-3S foldaway seats may have a rear seat cushion that does not stay locked in place when it is rotated from the stowed position to the upright position. Under load, such as in a crash or a sudden stop, the cushion may not remain secured.

If the seat back moves during a crash, the seat occupant faces an increased risk of injury. Owners of affected vehicles should take this seriously and act promptly.

Vantage Mobility International has notified owners. Contact Freedman customer service at 1-800-443-4540 to request a repair kit, which is provided free of charge. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
