What this recall means for you
The rear brake caliper pistons on certain vehicles may have an insufficient protective coating. Over time, this can allow gas pockets to form in the brake fluid, which reduces braking performance and means the vehicle no longer meets federal brake safety requirements.
Because reduced braking performance increases the risk of a crash, owners should take this recall seriously. Honda and Acura will notify owners directly. The remedy is free: an authorized Honda or Acura dealer will bleed the brakes. Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, and Honda's internal recall numbers for this action are C31 and L30.
To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup or with your dealer. If your vehicle has an open recall, schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
