Mazda CX-7 Recall 17V429: Passenger Air Bag Inflator May Rupture in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 17V429, reported June 29, 2017, 205,377 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The passenger-side frontal air bag inflator in these vehicles can degrade over time from long-term exposure to humidity and temperature changes. If the front air bags deploy in a crash, the inflator may rupture and send metal fragments toward occupants, which can cause serious injury or death.

The manufacturer advises owners not to drive the vehicle until the remedy has been performed. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator with an alternate inflator at no cost to you. Contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 and reference recall 1317F, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
