What this recall means for you
Certain 2017 Mercedes-Benz vehicles have front seat seatbelt pretensioners that may not work properly. A pretensioner is the device that quickly tightens the belt in a crash to hold the front occupants in place. The affected vehicles also fail to meet federal safety standards for occupant crash protection and seat belt assemblies.
If the pretensioners do not function as designed, front seat occupants may not be adequately restrained during a crash, which increases the risk of injury.
Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the front seat belts at no cost. The recall began October 13, 2017. You can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and you should check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
