Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 17V043: Instrument Cluster May Freeze, Disabling Turn Signals

NHTSA campaign 17V043, reported January 19, 2017, 769 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Trucks that were modified to use both a left-hand and a right-hand instrument cluster may have incompatible displays. Because of this, the instrument clusters and/or turn signals may become unresponsive.

Unresponsive instrument clusters or turn signals can increase the risk of a crash, since other drivers may not see your intended turns or lane changes and you may lose access to important vehicle information.

Dealers will replace the left instrument cluster with one compatible with the right display, free of charge. Owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks North America, or you can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL731). The recall began May 8, 2017. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
