Kenworth T680 Recall 16V426: Engine May Stall Suddenly and Fail to Restart

NHTSA campaign 16V426, reported June 10, 2016, 3,227 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The engine control module (ECM) in these trucks may short circuit. When that happens, the engine can stall without warning and may not restart, which can leave the vehicle stopped or unable to move in traffic.

An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. If your truck stalls unexpectedly, especially at speed or in a lane of traffic, take safe steps to get it out of the flow of traffic, use your hazard lights, and call for help.

Cummins will notify owners, and Cummins dealers will replace the defective engine control module free of charge. Owners can contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357, Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000, or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000, using PACCAR recall numbers 16KWB (Kenworth) or 616-C (Peterbilt).
