What this recall means for you
Some 2014-2015 Ford Explorers built between January 17, 2014 and May 31, 2014 may have improperly welded rear suspension toe links. Over time, a weak weld can cause the toe link to fracture.
If a rear toe link breaks, the vehicle can lose steering control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have their vehicle checked.
The repair is free. Dealers will replace the rear suspension toe links at no cost. Ford will notify affected owners, and you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your Explorer is included.
