The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The vehicle was recently taken to a dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure). The contact stated that the dealer was required to perform a rigorous 7-point safety inspection to ensure the frame was structurally sound for the rear trailing arm reinforcement brace to function properly. However, the dealer overlooked a critical rust hole on the frame by the trailing arm brace. The dealer improperly completed the recall repair despite the structural failure and informed the contact that the recall repair was successfully performed. While driving on October 2, 2026, the driver-side rear trailing arm and subframe mounting structure detached from the frame due to severe corrosion. The vehicle was immediately taken to Brandon Honda (Tampa, FL) for inspection under Safety Recall 23V228000 / Campaign 23-032. Brandon Honda documented on Repair Order #250035 that the "DRIVER REAR SUB-FRAME LOOKS TO BE COMPLETELY DETACHED." However, instead of submitting required inspection failure photos to Honda TechLine for corporate repurchase evaluation as mandated by Service Bulletin 23-032, the dealership issued a $4,222.77 customer-pay body shop estimate from Nu Finish Collision Center (Estimate #046670) to replace the suspension crossm
We took our 2008 honda crv to the Coggin Honda dealership in December 2025 to do a safety inspection, as we noted severe frame rust. In January 2026, the dealership indicated that we had to release the car to them, as it was unsafe to drive, and that they would be forwarding the case to Honda Corp under the NHTSA ID 23V228000 recall. When we called the dealership later for status updates, they indicated we had to deal directly with Honda Corp. We have called Honda Corp multiple times, and have gotten various stories, including that the case had been sent to mediation. When i called today, they indicated it has not yet been sent to mediation, and they would not let me talk to a supervisor
My car failed the annual Massachusetts State safety inspection done on XXX. The areas of failure were FRAME, FRONT END, and MUFFLER/EXHAUST. I was advised to not drive the car due to risk of frame failure due to extensive rust. I then brought vehicle to Atamian Honda ([XXX]) on XXX pursuant to Honda Service Bulleting (Recall) 23-032. The dealer contacted me later that day to tell me that the car was ready. The Service Concierge told me: (1) The car is ready as they did the recall. (2) The Technician said that the rust and rot was so sever that they could not put the car on a lift. (3) They could not complete the Multi Point Inspection due to the rust. (4) The technician advised me to not d
