The contact stated that while attempting to change gears, the motorcycle independently shut off. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while attempting to activate the cruise control, the cruise control independently deactivated. The local dealer was contacted. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the prior model year had recalls for the exterior lights. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the motorcycle related to the exterior lighting. The motorcycle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
