ENGINE RACES UNTIL CRUISE CONTROL IS MANUALLY DISENGAGED. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING, IS VERY STARTLING, AND I BELIEVE, COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT WITH AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER, AND/OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THERE ARE AFTER-MARKET DEVICES AVAILABLE WHICH CLAIM TO SOLVE OR MINIMIZE THE PROBLEM. MULTIPLE FORD "CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE" REPRESENTATIVES AND DEALER SERVICE REPS FROM NC TO AZ WILL NOT ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY SAY THE CRUISE CONTROL PERFORMS "NORMALLY" AND OFFER NO HELP

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED MIRROR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900.
