Volkswagen Tiguan Recall 26V587: Software Fault Can Stall Engine or Cut Lights and Camera

NHTSA campaign 26V587, reported September 10, 2026, 49,958 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error in the body control module, which manages many of the car's electrical functions, can cause the system to reset. When that happens, the ignition may switch off and the engine can stall. The reset can also cause loss of certain controls, warning lights, exterior lighting, or the rearview camera. An unexpected stall or loss of lights, warnings, or the backup camera can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the body control module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2026. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls at NHTSA.gov or contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298, referencing recall number 57KL.
