Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 26V559: Low Tire Pressure May Go Undetected, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V559, reported September 1, 2026, 201,975 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, and Wagoneer vehicles may have a software error in the tire pressure monitoring system. The system may fail to detect low tire pressure, or fail to turn on the TPMS warning light as intended. As a result, the vehicles do not meet federal safety standard FMVSS 138 for tire pressure monitoring systems.

A TPMS warning light that does not alert the driver to low tire pressure increases the risk of a crash, since underinflated tires can reduce handling and braking performance. Owners should not rely solely on the warning light and should check tire pressures manually when possible.

The repair is free. Dealers will update the radio frequency hub software at no charge. Owner notification letters began arriving September 17, 2026. You can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number 54D), and check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, where affected VINs become searchable on September 9, 2026.
