Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 26V522: Fuel Leak Risk in a Crash Prompts School Bus Recall

NHTSA campaign 26V522, reported August 10, 2026, 22,778 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024 through 2027 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses may have a diesel fuel tank cage and fuel system mounting that are incompatible. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 301, which covers fuel system integrity.

Authorized dealers will reconfigure components to accommodate the existing fuel tank cage, at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2026. You can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number F1037, and you can check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
