What this recall means for you
A software error in the camera control unit can occur at startup, so the rearview camera may not display its image as intended. Because the backup camera may not show what is behind the vehicle, the driver's rear view is reduced and the risk of a crash when reversing increases. These vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 for rear visibility.
Volkswagen will update the camera control unit software at an authorized dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 4, 2026. You can also contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 and reference recall number 91NF. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov for open recalls, since VINs for this recall have been searchable there since May 27, 2026.
